Time for Reflection … Gratitude
With the New Year just around the corner, this would be a great time to take a look back on 2009. This was a very challenging year for most people. We faced one of the greatest recession’s in our nation’s history; and the media had a banner year pointing out everything that was wrong with this country and with the economy in general.
But, that isn’t the whole story. 2009 was also a year filled with magical, miraculous and wonderful things as well. Unfortunately, most of us didn’t focus on those things. Instead, we created the negative habit of focusing only on the bad news. We got so caught up looking for everything that was wrong with the world, that we didn’t pause or stop long enough to reflect on all the amazing things we did have; and that we should have been grateful for.
Let me give you a simple example… There are over 6.5 billion people that we share this planet with; and yet there is not one single other person that is exactly like you. In my book, that makes you a miracle.
We are surrounded by so many awe inspiring things that we should be grateful for. All we have to do is change our focus and be aware. We need to create winning habits that allow us to appreciate the magnificent treasures that we are given on a daily basis?
As 2009 draws to a close, I hope you will make time to reflect on the magnitude of abundance that is already present in your life. I hope that you will truly make time to recognize and rejoice in all the “good” that you had in your life this past year.
A New Year … Coose to make it a spectacular, abundant year!
” Our lives are a combination of good and bad, positive and negative. It is the best of times, and it is the worst of times; all the time. When we choose to focus on the good that is already present, our lives get better. If not, they don’t. Either way… life goes on.” This is one of my favorite quotes from the book Do It, by Peter McWilliams.
If you are like most people, you will make New Year’s resolutions. I hope that two of your resolutions will be to give yourself the gifts of gratitude and abundance.
When you have an attitude of gratitude and you practice it on a regular basis, you will find the world a much more giving, wonderful place.
When you give yourself an attitude of abundance, you will come to learn that true abundance is not what you have… Rather, true abundance is what you give.
I wish you a happy, healthy and joyous New Year!!!
